Built for Shopify

Live freight rates in your checkout — even for the heavy, awkward stuff.

Fare Freight quotes your own carrier accounts at checkout for furniture, gym equipment, spas, generators — anything that was never going to fit in a satchel. Then books it, labels it and manifests it from one screen.

Delivery optionsGive people a cheaper way to get it.

A flat rate has to cover your worst case, so everyone pays for the hardest delivery on your books. Fare Freight quotes each order properly and offers the choices a freight customer actually wants.

  • Depot Collection. Your customer collects from their nearest freight depot instead of paying for a home run. The checkout shows them which depot and how far away it is.
  • Business address with a forklift or dock. Priced differently, because it costs the carrier differently.
  • Tailgate, hand unload and authority to leave. Real options at checkout, not a note in the order comments.

An example quote for one 93.7 kg item. Three real options, priced before the customer commits.

Smart Packing showing a top and side view of six items fitted into one 40 by 20 by 18 centimetre carton, with the packed shipment weight of 4.22 kilograms.

Six items, one carton, one rate — with the layout it used to get there.

Smart PackingStop quoting a basket like it’s six parcels.

Most apps rate each line separately, so a customer buying six things gets quoted six deliveries and leaves. Smart Packing works out which of your boxes the order actually fits in, stacks it properly, and quotes the carton that comes out.

  • Your real packaging. Load your own cartons and satchels, or start from the standard Australia Post and mailing box presets.
  • It shows its working. Top and side views of the pack, the items inside, and the weight it sent to the carrier.
  • Stackable products stay sensible. Six of the same item ship as one stacked shipment instead of multiplying the freight.

How Smart Packing works →

Your packagingSet it up once, in your own boxes.

Dimensions, weight and packaging live per SKU — and per carton, for products that genuinely ship in more than one. If you already keep dimensions in metafields, it reads them from there.

  • Up to ten separate boxes on a single product, for anything that ships as a multi-carton set.
  • Per-product rules: free shipping, a fixed rate, a discount, or a charge per additional unit.
  • Multi-warehouse — orders quote from the right origin automatically.
The Smart Packing setup screen listing saved packages such as Mailing Box Extra Small and AusPost Satchel XS, each with its dimensions, tare weight and maximum weight.

Your saved packages, with tare and maximum weight on each.

The shipping rules screen, where conditions such as postcode, weight and order value decide which rates appear at checkout.

Conditions decide which rates a customer is offered.

Shipping rulesYour checkout says what you want it to say.

Rates are yours to shape. Hide an option for postcodes you can’t service, add a handling charge where you need one, rename anything, and decide what a customer is offered before they ever see it.

  • Conditions that match reality — postcode, weight, dimensions, order value, product or collection.
  • Editable names and descriptions. “Depot Collection — collect when it suits” beats “Standard Shipping”.
  • Protect the margin on the deliveries that quietly cost you money.

From the Shopify App StoreFive reviews. Five stars. All Australian.

“We run a business specializing in heavy goods, and integrating Fare Freight with my Shopify store has been a game-changer. Unlike other apps, Fare Freight excels in handling heavy items. The setup was quick and easy, and the cost savings on shipping bulky products are remarkable.”

“Our products are an odd shape and Fare Freight allowed us to enter in the dimensions and package type to give our customers accurate and live shipping rates. The app is easy to use and has many options to make the shipping tailored to what you need.”

Fabwitz Industries

“It is a great tool for sending all palleted goods. It connects with Shopify well, provides a large amount of shipping options to our customers and their customer service is really supportive. They will help you with the set up and advice on configuration if needed.”

Carriers & brokersBring the account you already have.

You connect your own carrier and broker accounts on one screen and keep the rates you’ve already negotiated. Nothing to renegotiate, nothing to move.

Stores currently run it with National Freight Management, MachShip, KIS, Allied Express, Direct Freight, BigPost and Australia Post, among others. If yours isn’t on the list yet, we add carriers on request — that’s a normal part of onboarding, not a special case.

Before you askThe fair questions.

Do I need my own carrier account?

For live carrier rates, yes — and that’s the point. You keep your negotiated pricing and we don’t take a cut of your freight. If you don’t have an account yet, we can point you at the brokers other stores here use.

What if my carrier isn’t supported?

Tell us and we’ll look at adding it. New carrier connections are a routine part of onboarding rather than a special project, and the list has grown that way.

Will this work with my theme and checkout?

Rates are returned through Shopify’s carrier service, so they appear wherever your checkout shows shipping. There’s nothing to rebuild in your theme.

My products are all different sizes. Is setup painful?

It’s the part we help with. Dimensions can be imported, read from existing metafields, or set per SKU — and every plan includes a setup session with us, not a link to a help doc.

What about returns?

Reverse logistics is handled in the app too, including collection from the customer’s address. Ask us about it on the demo — it’s the part most stores don’t expect.
